Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small pieces of information saved in your browser. StuckWriter also uses local storage, session storage and IndexedDB to keep account and project information on your device. This notice explains these technologies alongside our Privacy Policy.
The public website
The public website’s own code does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Its menu and page links work without saving a tracking identifier. Hosting providers process technical request information as described in our Privacy Policy.
The StuckWriter app
The app uses browser storage to provide the sign-in, saving, recovery and cloud-sync functions you request. These technologies are used for those functions rather than advertising.
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| stuckWriterBetaSession cookie | Remembers your sign-in so account and cloud features can work. | Up to 30 days from when set or refreshed; removed when you sign out. |
| Sign-in token in local storage | Restores your sign-in when you reopen the app. | No automatic browser expiry; removed on sign-out or when browser site data is cleared. Access also depends on server-side account and session status. |
| Local storage and IndexedDB | Save projects, manuscripts, feedback, app settings and a device identifier used for cloud synchronisation. | No automatic browser expiry. Data remains until removed by the app, cleared in your browser or removed by the browser itself. |
| Session storage | Keeps temporary reload, recovery and import-undo information. | Normally for the tab’s session, or until the app clears the entry. Browser session restoration can preserve it. |
Browser storage is separate from cloud storage. Deleting browser data does not automatically delete your cloud account or projects. Signing out removes sign-in information but is not a request to delete your account or saved writing.
Payment and other provider pages
When you follow a link to PayPal checkout, PayPal controls storage on its own pages and provides its own notices and choices. See PayPal’s privacy statement. StuckWriter’s current public website links to checkout rather than embedding PayPal’s checkout script.
Your choices
You can remove or block cookies and other site data in your browser settings. Blocking storage can prevent sign-in, local saving, recovery or synchronisation from working. Export backups before clearing site data so you do not lose writing kept only on your device.
Storage essential to a service you request does not require a cookie-consent choice. If we introduce storage for advertising or another purpose that requires consent, we will explain it and obtain that consent before enabling it.
